
A Tesla Mode 3 entered the store due to the instrument panel indicating low tire pressure on the left rear wheel. After inspection, it was found that a nail had been punctured and a technician needed to remove the tire for repair.
The position of the tire nail is in the middle of the tire surface. In general, if you find that the tire has been pierced with such nails and the tire pressure is significantly low, do not hesitate to go directly to the repair shop for inspection and repair, because such nails are usually longer and can pierce the tire through.
The wheels of Tesla Model 3 are made of iron material, with plastic decorative covers on the outside. By removing these covers, you can see the fixing screws of the tires.
The wheels were quickly removed by the master and fixed with five screw caps, as shown in the figure below. You can see the three connecting rods, shock absorbers, and shock springs on the upper part of the rear suspension, as well as two connecting rods on the lower part. The rear suspension type belongs to the five link independent suspension, and the master said its handling is leading in the same class.
Before disassembling the tire, the owner always reminds the technician not to scratch the wheel rim. Last time when repairing the tire, they didn't pay attention and one of the tire rims was scratched by the machine. The master said, don't worry, the disassembly difficulty of this tire is not high, and it is not an explosion-proof tire. In no time, the tire was pulled off.
The inside of the valve is a tire pressure sensor, which is purple in color and belongs to the direct tire pressure sensor. It can directly measure the gas pressure inside the tire.
The master placed the tire in the tire repair position, and you could see a circle of sponge inside the tire surface, also known as silent cotton, which mainly reduces the noise of the tire. In more professional terms, it refers to the ability to absorb and block the cavity noise generated by tire rolling, as well as the noise generated by tire tread patterns.
Due to the thickness of the silent cotton, the nails on the inside cannot be seen, so it is necessary to cut off a piece of the silent cotton at the nail position in order to find the accurate nail position and polish it, as shown in the following figure.
The nails are not big, and the master said that using regular cold patching patches is enough. If the nails are thicker, mushroom nails are needed, and the corresponding price will be higher. As shown in the figure below, the patch has been attached, and then special glue is sprayed on the original location where the silent cotton was pasted to stick the silent cotton.

Finally, I would like to remind you that after inflating the tire with the wheel rim, remember to ask the technician to perform dynamic balancing on the tire, otherwise it may shake at a specific speed when driving at high speeds.
