Toyota Corolla chassis parts problem, bring anxious and upset with car owner

As soon as customer arrived at the repair shop, I saw the repairman lying under the car repairing the car. One rear wheel was supported by a jack, and the tire was placed at the bottom of the car. In case the jack did not support it well and the car fell down, the tire would serve as a support. Everyone can learn this kind of protection just for greater safety.

So I asked the mechanic where to repair this Toyota Corolla. The repairman explained that the rear chassis of this car has a serious abnormal noise, which is very loud on bumpy roads and feels like it is about to fall apart. The owner is very annoyed and cannot drive with peace of mind, so they came to repair the rear chassis.

The reason for the abnormal chassis noise is that the rubber sleeve of the rear suspension control arm and the ball joint of a tie rod are damaged. Simply replacing them can solve the problem. As shown in the figure below, this is a comparison of the new and old components of the rear suspension control arm.

Looking at the bushing of the control arm in the picture, the old bushing has been damaged and displaced, and there are obvious friction marks on the edge of the bushing. As the damaged control arm has been replaced before, it is not possible to replace the bushing separately this time.

Another damaged component of the rear suspension system is the tie rod, as shown in the figure below. This tie rod can adjust the chassis data, which is the toe in value in the four-wheel alignment.

Comparing the old and new tie rods, the old ones have been replaced and are not original factory parts. In the middle of the pull rod, there are threads and screw caps that can be turned, which means that this pull rod can be lengthened or shortened to adjust the chassis data.

The problem with the tie rod is not with the lining, but with the ball joint. As shown in the figure below, the protective cover of the ball joint has fallen off, and there are many impurities on the internal ball joint. The normal state of the ball joint should be covered with grease. And the ball head can be shaken by hand, but if the road is bumpy, there will be abnormal noise.

After replacing chassis components like the one shown in the picture, it is necessary to perform four-wheel alignment, otherwise the chassis data will be different, which will not only affect the driving experience but also cause tire wear.
