The function of the control arm
The control arm is a key component that connects the wheels to the body/subframe, and belongs to the skeleton of the suspension system.
1. Support the wheels and fix them in place
Keep the wheels at the correct angle (camber, toe in, caster).
Ensure that the wheels do not deviate or shake.
2. Transmitting force and buffering vibration
Endure the tensile, compressive, and lateral forces during vehicle acceleration, braking, and steering.
Filter road bumps and reduce noise and vibration through the lining (rubber sleeve) and ball head at both ends.
3. Ensure precise steering and stable driving
The control arm is not loose or deformed, so that the steering wheel does not drift, shake, or deviate.
When driving at high speeds or turning corners, keep the wheels on the ground to improve handling and safety.
4. Protect the tires and reduce uneven wear
Aging and deformation of the control arm can lead to tire eating, uneven wear, and abnormal noise.
A good control arm can extend tire life.
