Function (front upper control arm)
Accurate wheel positioning: Control the front wheel camber angle and caster angle, determine the straight-line stability and steering return force, and prevent high-speed deviation and tire wear.
Connecting the vehicle body and steering knuckle: the upper end is connected to the frame/shock absorber tower top, and the lower end is connected to the sheep horn, forming a double wishbone structure with the lower swing arm to constrain the up and down jumping and lateral displacement of the wheels.
Bearing lateral and steering forces: mainly providing lateral support during turning to suppress roll; Transmitting steering wheel torque during turning ensures precise steering and direct tactile sensation.
Buffer and limit: The lining filters high-frequency vibrations and noise; Limit the maximum upward travel of the wheels to prevent over compression of the suspension.
Protecting shock absorbers: sharing the lateral load of shock absorbers, avoiding bending and oil leakage of shock absorber cores.
Common Symptoms of Damage
Steering wheel shaking, drifting, and instability at high speeds (80-120km/h)
When turning/changing lanes, there is a rattling noise from the chassis
Abnormal unilateral wear on the inner/outer side of the tire
The steering wheel is unable to return to its original position and the virtual position becomes larger
The dust cover of the ball joint is damaged or loose, and there is a risk of steering loss in severe cases
