A 2018 Volkswagen Polo was rescued and brought into the store because the battery was out of battery and needed to be replaced after testing. At the same time, the engine was also due for maintenance. After replacing the battery, the mechanic performs engine maintenance and inspects the entire vehicle.
The car owner usually doesn't drive it much, and has only driven over 50000 kilometers in 7 years, as shown in the dashboard below. Due to battery power failure, the time displayed on the instrument panel is also incorrect and needs to be adjusted.
Open the engine hood, the engine model DLX belongs to the EA211 series, which is very sturdy and durable, with a low failure rate. The matching gearbox also has a low failure rate.
As shown in the figure below, the air filter assembly is installed on the upper part of the engine. By removing the upper shell of the filter, you can see the filter and the status of the throttle valve. This type of throttle valve installation position is very convenient for cleaning.
The condition of the throttle valve mainly depends on the oil sludge on the edge of the middle flap, as shown in the figure below. The edges of the flap are all black oil sludge, which can affect the intake volume of the engine at idle speed and cause problems such as unstable idle speed and stuck throttle. Cleaning it thoroughly can solve the problem.
Lift up the car, remove the engine lower guard, drain the old oil, and replace the oil filter.
As shown in the figure below, the oil filter has been installed, and we can see that there are no signs of oil or water leakage at the bottom of the engine and transmission, and the condition is very good.
The front part is a MacPherson independent suspension, and the lower arm is a larger single-layer stamped steel plate. The ball joint of the lower arm can be disassembled separately.
There is only one rusted component as shown in the following picture, which is the rear guard of the brake disc. It should have been a layer of paint to prevent rust, but it has already fallen off. However, the mechanic said that these rusts don't affect anything and can't be seen normally, so there's no need to worry.
Check the components of the front suspension. The rubber protective cover of the steering rod ball joint has some cracks, but the internal ball joint is still normal and can continue to be used normally.
Looking at the middle part of the chassis, there are insulation tiles on the upper part of the exhaust pipe and protective plates on both sides, which is quite comprehensive.
The rear suspension is a torsion beam non independent type, and the front of the rear torsion beam is a 45 liter plastic fuel tank. The rear suspension components are all normal after inspection.
After inspecting the entire chassis, add engine oil and clean the air filter and air conditioning filter.
Finally, clean the engine compartment with high-pressure water and complete the maintenance. Overall, the condition of this Volkswagen Polo is quite good, with no serious issues.
